Parkland College

Parkland College is primarily a two-year college offering vocational and transfer degrees in over 100 different areas. Parkland also offers advanced degrees through partnerships with Eastern Illinois University, University of Illinois at Springfield, Franklin University, Olivet-Nazarene University, and Greenville College. Parkland also offers nine sports teams and numerous student organizations.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is one of the preeminent research universities in the world. Eleven alumni of UIUC, including nine university faculty, have been named Nobel Prize Laureates, and 18 alumni and two faculty members are Pulitzer Prize recipients. UIUC campus is also home to the largest public university library in the world, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, the renowned Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, and 19 Division I sports teams.

Arts & Culture

Champaign is home to a diverse array of artistic and cultural opportunities, ranging from the thriving downtown that a vibrant entertainment district featuring upscale restaurants, art galleries, boutiques and nightlife in a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere to numerous music venues, such as Krannert Center for the Performing Arts which hosts more than 300 performances a year in it’s four venues. Champaign is also home to the Boneyard Arts Festival and Roger Ebert’s Overlooked Film Festival, held each spring at the historic Virginia Theatre.

The Champaign Park District offers 14 facilities and a variety of programming for children, adults, seniors and special needs individuals in diverse areas including sports, fitness, cultural arts, and special events. The Champaign County Forest Preserve boasts more than 3,500 scenic acres throughout the county. Activities include fishing, boating,  hiking, picnicking, cross-country skiing, sledding, golfing, and swimming.
