• 52% of the area’s employers rated worker productivity as “excellent,” among the highest in the nation where the median “excellent” rating is 18%.
• The seven-county “labor shed” provides an estimated labor force of 155,000 people.
• Over 28,000 potentially available “underemployed" workers have indicated a desire to switch jobs.
• An additional 5,700 unemployed people are seeking work.
• Annual enrollment of some 38,000 students at the University of Illinois provides a vast pool of additional part- and full-time labor.
• Wages are very competitive with 230 other communities nationwide.
