EDC Hires New Executive Director

The Champaign County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) announced today the selection of Jeanne Gustafson as its new Executive Director. Ms. Gustafson will begin work on July 26 th and will replace Jill Guth who is leaving the EDC on July 15 th to join JSM Management.
Ms. Gustafson was selected after an intense search process which took place over the past month. She is presently the Executive Director of Coles Together, a countywide economic development organization representing Coles County, Illinois. She has been the executive director of Coles Together for the past seven years and was previously involved in economic development roles in Mt. Vernon and Vandalia. Additionally, she is a past president of the Illinois Enterprise Zone Association.
"I have enjoyed my tenure at Coles Together immensely, but have always loved Champaign County . I look forward to the opportunity to work with such a stellar region and outstanding group of economic development partners. I have had the opportunity to work as a peer with Jill Guth and have great respect for her accomplishments and anticipate a very smooth transition with her assistance. I look forward to the future!” commented Gustafson.
Mark Dixon, EDC incoming board chair led the search process. Dixon said, “Jeanne Gustafson has earned a solid reputation among her economic development peers for her successful track record with Coles Together, Mt. Vernon and Vandalia. Jeanne's professional career gives her a solid foundation to address the challenges and mission of the
Champaign County EDC . Her enthusiasm for economic development is boundless and we are anxious to target her energy for the initiatives of our organization and our community. We are extremely pleased that she has accepted our offer. We encourage the entire community to meet Jeanne Gustafson.”
Reed Berger, Rantoul Economic Development Director and EDC board member has worked with Gustafson over the years and stated, “ I have known Jeanne for at least 15 years, both as colleague in the field of economic development and also during my tenure as an officer and member of the Illinois Enterprise Zone Association. Aside from her professional integrity and solid track record in similar positions, she has a personality like Jill's that is full of heart, humor, and when required, political savvy and a thick skin. I think she will do a great job for Champaign County!”
Gustafson will be formally introduced to the EDC board of directors and the community on July 1 st at the EDC board meeting and a reception immediately following the meeting. Gustafson and Guth will work doing the month of July to insure a smooth management transition. This will include weekly meetings to review projects, tour the community, and make key introductions.
